Moore County Health Department & Department of Social Services
Moore County Health Department & Department of Social Services
Tides partners with the Moore County Health Department’s OB/GYN clinic to provide prenatal and postpartum care.
Tides has designated medical providers that meet with all Tides patients and provide consistent care throughout their pregnancy.
The providers are well versed in caring for women who struggle with a substance use disorder. When a woman enters the program with an opioid use disorder, the medical provider introduces her to a much safer alternative medication. This evidence-based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) prescribes medication to diminish the desire for opioids. This greatly decreases the risk for relapse and increases the chances of having a healthy baby.
Tides also partners with the Moore County Department of Social Services to coordinate services for women in the program.
Many women who enter the Tides program have an open Child Protective Services (CPS) case with the Department of Social Services. With this collaboration, the Moore County Department of Social Services and Tides work together with CPS to establish guidelines for the mother, create a Safety Plan, and provide supervision.
In addition, Tides will assist women through the process of obtaining many of the Department of Social Services programs that are provided including Food Stamps, WIC, and childcare vouchers.
