Novant Health Coastal OBGYN
Novant Health
Prenatal and Postpartum care is provided at Novant Health Coastal OB/GYN clinic.
To provide consistency for the women in the program, Tides has a designated Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who oversees and cares for all Tides patients throughout their pregnancy and postpartum visit. Denise Neal and her team are exceptional in caring for these women during their most difficult time; pregnancy and recovery from substance use.
Since opioids are extremely harmful to an unborn fetus, Mrs. Neal introduces women who struggle with an opioid use disorder to a much safer alternative medication when they enter the program. This Medication Assisted Treatment prescribes medication to diminish the desire for opioids. This greatly decreases the risk for relapse and increases the chances of having a healthy baby.

New Hanover County Department of Health and Human Services
New Hanover County Department of Health and Human Services
Tides is proud to partner with the New Hanover County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Most women entering the Tides program after the birth of their baby, have an open Child Protective Services (CPS) case through the Department of Social Services. Together Tides and CPS work together to establish guidelines for the mother, create a Safety Plan, and provide supervision.
Tides also guides women through many of DHHS’s services such as applying for Food Stamps, WIC and childcare vouchers.

Coastal Horizons Center
Coastal Horizons Center
Tides is proud to partner with Coastal Horizons Center to provide substance use recovery and mental health services. When a woman is admitted to the Tides program, she completes an assessment with Coastal Horizons to determine her specific needs so appropriate services can be provided.
Coastal Horizons also provides the 12-week Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) that is required of all Tides participants and administers Medication Assisted Treatment for women in the Tides program for postpartum or have complex medication needs.
Tides also works with Child First at Coastal Horizons, an infant and young child mental health treatment program. This program works with families with children from birth to five years old who have challenges with their emotional, social and/or physical development.
To provide consistency in care, a designated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) coordinates services for all Tides participants. This coordinator works closely with their mental health providers and meets with Tides’ in-house case management team on a bi-weekly basis to provide continuity of care.

StepUp Wilmington
StepUp Wilmington
StepUp Wilmington’s mission is to empower individuals to reach their potential and lead stable lives through satisfying work.
Tides is proud to work with StepUp Wilmington to send all of its participants through their four-day job training course. Since all women in the Tides program are expected to work once their baby is six months old, this training prepares them for re-entering the job market.
The course empowers and teaches them to believe in themselves. It assists them in writing a resume, understanding the interview process, locating work and job retention. After training, StepUp provides a job coach to help find appropriate work and offers incredible monetary incentives for these women to obtain employment and remain in that job for at least 30 days.

SmartStart of New Hanover County
SmartStart of New Hanover County
Tides works with Smart Start in New Hanover County to provide services for mothers and children in the program.
Smart Start offers an in-person Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) course. This is offered to women with an open CPS case. This course is also offered online for all women and is required for all participants in the Tides program.
